Awarded for Making a Difference!
Congratulations! Wylene Saunders, Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission Clothing Room Supervisor was awarded the 2013 Ruby Award today by the members of Soroptimist International of Las Cruces. The Ruby Award honors women, who through their professional or personal efforts, are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women or girls in our community. The honorees are individuals who inspire and encourage other women!
We appreciate Wylene's heart and service to help women and girls at the Clothing Room. She has gone beyond the role of duty to help and make sure that each person coming into the clothing room not only gets clothing they need to be successful at work or school, but receives encouragement and resources to better their lives and the lives of their children. Wylene has helped thousands of people through her decades of service at the Rescue Mission's Clothing Room.
Commenting about the award, Wylene said, "This award is for the volunteers at the Gospel Rescue Mission Clothing Room who have helped through giving their time and energy." Many of the Clothing Room volunteers have been working together for multiple years. This is unusual in a volunteer setting and reflects the commitment and enjoyment of a team who care and work together.
Thank you, Wylene, for your leadership, hard work and enduring heart.

Warm Shelter Cool Snow
As the snow fluttered down blanketing the city of Las Cruces on Thursday night, 80 people (including women and one child), were warm in comfortable cozy beds. It's a relief to know that when people are in need of emergency shelter, Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission is there open 24 hours. The Rescue Mission's services are free to help meet people at their point of need. Filling, delicious meals are served three times daily: breakfast, lunch and supper for anyone who is hungry and in need of food. In need of shelter or would like to volunteer and help...call the Rescue Mission at 575-523-7727.
